Youngest ballplayer in history was Joe Nuxhall in 1944. He was 15 years 10 months and 11 days old when he made his pitching debut. He pitched for 2/3 inning, allowing 5 walks and 5 runs. That is the only game he played in during that year, but his career spanned 16 years, with a career record of 135-117.

Oldest ballplayer in history was Satchel Paige. Born LeRoy Robert, he played 20 years in the Negro leagues before joining the major leagues at age 42 (also the oldest rookie) in 1948. He played for 5 years, then returned for one final game in 1965 at age of 59 years, 2 months, 18 days.
